Lippulaiva

The Lippulaiva town centre opened in 2022 in the Suur-Espoonlahti district. It holds close to a hundred shops, cafés and restaurants along with both private and public services, including one of the largest concentrations of grocery stores in the Helsinki region.

Halored’s task was to realise the centre’s lighting vision and to work alongside the architects and interior architects. The work began with lighting calculations and luminaire selection; particular attention went into building cost-effective lighting control. All design was done in BIM.

We supplied and installed more than 8,000 DALI luminaires from 3F Filippi, Molto Luce, Targetti, iGuzzini and Osram. What sets Lippulaiva apart from other centres are 150 custom-sized luminaires called Dome — an Osram tunable-white dynamic system that gives the building an atmosphere of its own.

One of the largest pieces of work was installing and commissioning the Traxon e:cue SYMPHOLIGHT control system. It manages hundreds of sensors and thousands of DALI-2 luminaires, adjusting luminous flux imperceptibly according to movement, presence, daylight level, time of day and the price of electricity. It also reports faults to the facility team and allows energy use and occupancy data to be analysed per lighting group.
